TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC, TRAFFIC

"When you live in a region where every commute is straight out of Death Race you get to be real good at driving. In the past three days, I have had 2 Hispanics spin out in front of me; some idiot lady that decided to go 10 MPH up an icy hill while I was coming up behind her. I had to swerve around her and ride my right two wheels onto a one foot packed snow embankment so I wouldn't get stuck too. Then some knucklehead almost side swiped me on the highway; another a-hole try to speed up to block me off because a right lane on the highway ended in a snow hill without warning and I had to get over. I gunned it and beat him and he had the nerve to honk at me. It just wouldn't be the DC metro area without a daily brush with death." - A friend.

My friend was absolutely correct, what he did not mention is that he was sober for all of those traffic instances. Had he been drinking, he would probably have been in jail or dead, because he would not have been able to react quickly to those situations. Traffic is everywhere, and when we drive under the influence, we put those around us in jeopardy, just as you are put in jeopardy when they drive under the influence around you. Operating a motor vehicle is a priviledge, not a right. Many must think that the U.S. Constitution guarantees you the right to drive. Well, it DOESN'T. Your drivers license is a priviledge given to you by the state of whatever you live in. Just like your voting right, your right to drive can be revoked. If you have your drivers license revoked and continue to drive, you are going to need a lawyer to explain to the judge why you were driving, when you had no legal right to be driving.

People are driving daily without licenses, insurance, and under the influence. Can you imagine a unlicensed, uninsured, drunk driver weaving in and out of traffic, before hitting another vehicle and causing a traffic accident? Who is going to pay the bill? Your insurance company is going to end up paying because other wise you will never see that money that the drunk, uninsured, unlicensed motorist owes. I know someone who hasn't had a drivers license for close to 7 years and continues to drive, because otherwise he would not be able to work and pay his bills. If he is caught driving, he will go to jail. Then he will need an attorney to try to mitigate his damages, assuming the only law broken was driving without a license. If he is caught for traffic violations or even a DUI, his consequences will be much greater.

PLEASE AVOID DRINKING AND DRIVING!!!
